How to Create a TeamSpeak 3 Server
To talk on TeamSpeak everyone needs to connect to a server. There are two ways to get yours: install it on your own computer or rent one ready to use.
Option 1: host it at home
The server software is a free download from teamspeak.com for Windows, Linux and macOS. Without a license it runs one virtual server with up to 32 slots. Keep in mind:
- The computer has to stay on all the time: if it shuts down or the power goes out, the server goes down.
- You need to open port 9987 UDP (voice) on your router and, for file sharing, 30033 TCP.
- Every connected user takes part of your internet connection: if someone at home downloads something big, voice can stutter.
- The first time you start it, the server shows a privilege key that makes you admin. Save it.
Option 2: rent one ready to use
A rented server does not depend on your computer or your connection, and there are no ports to open. At MejorServer:
- Go to the TeamSpeak cart and pick how many slots (from 5) and the city closest to your players.
- Choose your address, for example yourclan.ts3.me, yourclan.t3.ar or yourclan.ts3.mejorserver.com.
- Pay the invoice with PayPal, card, Mercado Pago or bank transfer.
- Once payment clears, the server is created automatically and you get an email with the address, port and admin key.
How to connect
- Download the TeamSpeak 3 client from teamspeak.com and install it.
- In Connections → Connect, type the server address and your nickname.
- To become admin, use the privilege key: see how to become admin on TeamSpeak 3.
